Lanzarote Fishing Report

Report of a day's fishing in October in our boat Margarita Segundo
Last week's best catch in the Margarita was a 30 kilo wahoo caugth by a scotish angler on tuesday. Funnily enough, today, also a tuesday, we've caught another similar wahoo. I'd love another one next tuesday... in any case here's a summary of our fishing today as it has been pretty good:
We left the harbour in Puerto del Carmen heading East due to the excellent weather we were enjoying this morning. Even though we were not in our usual fishing route, soon after we left we had our first bite of the day: a three kilo atlantic bonito that we kept, as the fishing spot where we were heading is usually quite good for shark fishing. And so it was, as after a couple of hours, we saw a shark fin about two hundred metres away from the boat. We quicky reeled in all the lures and we threw a line with the bonito, and after just ten minutes the shark appeared right behind the lure. Within seconds it was hooked, and after a 50 minute fight with an spanish angler we had the hammerhead shark, which we quickly released. It weighted around 100 kilos.
We were still recovering from the exciting fight, when 15 minutes later we are hooked again. This time, a 25 kilo wahoo caught by an italian angler in just 10 intense minutes. We finished off the day with three small atlantic bonitos (which we released) and a two kilo barracuda.
Here are the photographs of both wahoos. Beautiful, aren't they?
