About Lake Tobesofkee
Colorful sailboats dive into the humid landscape, while on Lake Tobesofkee bright splashes of red, yellow and blue gently weave in and out of the water. Boaters enjoy the wind whipping their sails and being guided by bright orange buoys. If you are a family boating, the lake can help you keep up with your friends and family as well as other boaters in the area.
The lake was founded by two committees in the 1960s and built by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the US Army Corps of Engineers. The dam at Tobesofkee Creek was completed in 1967 and in 1969 a 1,800 hectare reservoir was opened to the public, attracting enthusiastic water rats. It is located on the eastern bank of the Chattahoochee River, south of Savannah, Georgia, and was built as a result of a partnership between the State of Georgia and Georgia State University.
Park your tent on the shore and listen to the crackling fire as the water gently splashes against the shore. The picnic pavilion and white sandy beach provide the backdrop for a family outing in summer, while the camper van park can be the ideal destination for those who want to experience an outdoor adventure in winter. All three parks are within walking distance of each other and offer holidaymakers the opportunity to camp or find first-class holiday apartments.
The 35-mile shore of Lake Tobesofkee offers vacationers the opportunity to find a quiet spot away from the crowds and mingle with other water rats. Boat moorings are scattered across the lake and the summer heat attracts wakeboarders, water skiers and jet skiers to the cool hugs of the lakes. Water rats who do not miss paddling away from the hustle and bustle of their canoes, kayaks and oars will enjoy the opportunity to observe the fish in the depths and fish with their oars. It should be noted that some anglers prefer to fish from the shore and join other boats, so that a larger amount of fish can be caught during the season.
Once an angler has found the perfect spot, he can throw his fishing line into one of the many fingers in the lake to catch hybrid mullets and mistletoe catfish.
Enjoy the bright autumn colours of the trees, stroll through the beautiful cherry blossoms at the annual March City Festival, sit comfortably in the warm theatre in December and enjoy Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet. Wear your dancing shoes to the music acts in summer and sit comfortably in a warm theatre in December. Find the social scene of the city and become part of it, and you will prove that you are looking forward to a night away from Lake Tobesofkee.
At the same distance from Lake Tobesofkee is a 702-hectare park dedicated to the history of the people of southeastern North America. Let your bones penetrate the ancient historical sites to learn about the burial mounds and ceremonial mounds of the park. If you want to combine history with hiking, if you want to enjoy nature, you will find a lush landscape here.
