About Blue Ridge Lake

Blue Ridge Lake is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Georgia, USA, north of Atlanta, Georgia. It offers lovers all the desired features of adventure and outdoor activities and will pass visitors who visit it for a great view of the mountains, waterfalls, lakes, rivers and lakes.

It is a great place for anglers, campers and others looking for great outdoor experiences. There are 65 miles of coastline from which you can observe the wildlife, and there are a number of waterfalls, lakes, rivers, streams, ponds and other natural features.
Blue Ridge Lake was built in 1925-1930, and at the time of construction there was a large earth dam in the southeast. The dam flows into the Toccoa River, which flows north and generates 22,000 kilowatts of electricity.

The lake was originally called Toccoa Lake, but was renamed Blue Ridge Lake in 1934, and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) acquired the dam and 18 miles of coastline. The beautiful resort makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state of Georgia.

Sport fishing at Lake Blue Ridge offers a variety of fish species, such as bluefish, perch, trout and whitefish. For the intrepid angler, there are additional fishing opportunities, including channel catfish, yellowfish and flathead fish.

Trout fishing in the creek is also interesting for anglers, as the Toccoa River quickly becomes dangerous when the water drains away. Please follow the timetable for the release of the dam during your journey and see the internet resources below.

We provide access and services to our boats through a variety of boat rentals and are a member of the National Park Service and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Although 85% of Blue Ridge Lake is located in the Chatahoochee National Forest, only a small portion of the coast is built up, making visiting the lake a wonderful outdoor experience. If you are a geocaching enthusiast, you will love the picturesque nature of this beautiful lake and its many paths and trails.
