About Clear Lake

Clear Lake is located in Cerro Gordo County in northern Iowa and is one of the largest natural lakes in the state, covering an area of 3,684 hectares. It is a naturally occurring glacial lake created by melting a large ice sheet at a depth of about 1,000 meters, and is the second largest of its kind in Iowa after Clear Lake.

Houses were built on the lake at the end of the 19th century, and residents have long since discovered the appeal of Clear Lake.

Today, the lake is a thriving community of about 1,000 inhabitants and a number of hotels, restaurants, shops and restaurants.

The Des Moines Register awarded the city of Clear Lake the title of "Best Iowa Lake Town" for the first time in its history in 2010. In recent years, the population of Clear Lake has more than doubled, and tourists and seasonal workers enjoy the cool waters of the lake. The three gave their last concerts at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, which still serves as a music hall and reception hall.

Boating is a popular pastime on Clear Lake, and the lake has plenty of wind to provide it with enough water to make it an ideal destination for kayaking, canoeing, fishing and other recreational activities. The lake is also home to one of Iowa's most popular boat courses, the Great American Yacht Race. This race is held every year on the first Sunday in August, in which a total of 1,000 boats take part. Clear Lake Yachting Club regularly organises events on and around the lake.

No day on the lake would be without fishing, and Clear Lake is regularly home to over 30 species of fish and about 30 of these species.

The lake has fifteen public moorings and a commercial marina that offers boat rental, so visitors do not lack opportunities to move around on the water. Visitors can take picturesque tours across the lake in the morning, afternoon and evening, as well as in the summer months.

It features 55 hectares of grassy hills lined with majestic oak trees and Isebes beside Clear Lake, as well as a lake park with picturesque views of the lake and its surroundings.

Campers can use 215 campsites with toilets, showers and electricity, and there is an outdoor swimming pool with pool house, whirlpool and sauna. It is the perfect place to take a dip in hot weather and is one of the most popular campsites in North America for the summer months.

Nature lovers will appreciate the natural beauty of Clear Lake and its beautiful views of the Great Smoky Mountains and the Rocky Mountain Range.

A special feature of the park is the availability of two yurts for rent; one is located on Woodford Island, and the other at the northwest end of the lake. The park also has designated areas for kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing, boating and other recreational activities. It is also designated as a National Historic Landmark for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

The dome-like structures are modelled on those of the nomads in Central Asia and offer campers an alternative to traditional tents.

In addition to the activities around the lake, the town of Clear Lake offers visitors several opportunities for golfing, shopping and dining. The inhabitants are proud of their city and welcome visitors with open arms and friendly attitude. With its natural beauty, beautiful scenery and friendly people, Clear Lake has captivated travelers for decades.
