Sebago Lake is the deepest and second largest lake in Maine, and some sources describe it as 29,992 hectares. It covers 45 square miles, has an average depth of 107 feet, reaches an impressive 316 feet at its lowest point and has a coastline of 98 miles. The lowest point is about 40 m above sea level, while the surface is only 270 m below sea level. Sebago State Park, the largest public park in Maine, covers 12,500 acres and covers a total of 1.5 million square feet.

Sebago Lake is located in Cumberland County and borders the state of Maine. It is the second largest lake in the United States and the third largest in Maine. The difference could be explained by improved satellite mapping, but the lake is about 1.5 million square miles and about 2 million acres.

Although Lake Sebago is a natural lake formed 14,000 years ago from melting glaciers, the construction of the Eel Dam in 1830 raised the lake's water level by about 20 metres to its current level. The Cumberland - Oxford Canal Company was built to divert water into a newly built canal in the river. SAPPI is the current owner of this dam and manages its water levels in accordance with various regulatory authorities.

Lake Sebago is much more than just a water supply, it is a natural park with a variety of activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, hiking and fishing. Sebagos Lake State Park covers over 1,400 hectares and is home to the largest freshwater lake in the world and one of the largest natural lakes in the United States.

The park offers visitors a variety of opportunities to enjoy nature, from forest trails and park trails to camping and fishing. The park is open daily from 8 am to 5 pm, on weekends and weekends from June to October from 10 am to 12 pm, from 12 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 10 pm.

Sebago Lake is connected to Long Lake and Brandy Pond by a still-preserved lock on the old canal, built in the 1830s between Portland and Naples. During a stay in Naples, visitors can board a boat and take a tour of the historic city of Naples and its historic waterfront.

On the lake you can also rent a sailing boat, attend a sailing course or rent sailboats. In the marina on Lake Sebago, visitors can rent boats, kayaks and other small boats (up to 10 feet in length).

Frye Island is a green gem in the centre of Lake Sebago, just 4 miles from Cape Raymond. Swimming and water skiing are popular on the island's many sandy beaches. It is accessible by a two-car ferry called "Leisure Lady," which operates from May to October.
When the glaciers retreated at the end of the Ice Age, the watershed was covered with seawater for thousands of years. Salmon stocks were established when the sea water eventually receded, and Sebago is known for its salmon, trout and other fish species, as well as other aquatic life.

It is noteworthy that pike have been illegally introduced into the lake and anglers are asked to keep them and not release them and to report the condition of all pike north of their catch. Other popular fish are bluefish, redfish, whitefish and other small fish, as well as a variety of other species.

Lake Sebago is an exciting winter destination, and the Derby Winter Festival in February offers a variety of activities for all ages, from fishing to snowshoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling, canoeing and more.
