About Whites Lake

Is White Lake becoming a major tourist destination, tourist attraction, or just a small town in Michigan? This is perfectly possible if citizens and local authorities so wish.

For centuries, White Lake has suffered from industrial pollution, which was eliminated in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but only when many polluted sediments were dredged and the cleanup of the banks began. The industry and the people it supports left behind a polluted sediment that is scattered over 2,500 hectares of the lake.

White Lake has been added to Michigan's growing list of clean lakes, offering new opportunities for recreation and enjoyment. White Lake is located in the heart of Michigan and provides shelter and mooring for the world's largest number of recreational and commercial fishermen, as well as recreational kayaks and rafts.

The lake serves a population of more than 1.5 million people and is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the United States and the world. The lake, which is connected to a deep water channel of Lake Michigan, is at least 1 - 5 meters deep and offers space for most recreational boats.

White Lake has a lot to offer and the desire is to make it a better known harbor destination for recreational boaters.
Whitehall and Montague are in nearby Muskegon and will attract more boaters over time, making them slightly cheaper for those on a smaller budget.

The lake is already a popular destination for fishermen, and according to fishing blogs, White Lake is known as one of the most popular lakes in the state of Michigan for fishing and boating. It also attracts fans from across the United States and Canada as well as other parts of Europe.

Charter services can be arranged so that anglers can practice their favorite sport in a variety of habitats. Marinas and local parks offer space for boaters and visitors, and fishermen can easily rent or travel in suitable boats from several marinas. Public jetties offer children and people with reduced mobility a place to fish without leaving the shore.

White Lake is a sports lake, and all kinds of water sports can be practiced, from fishing to boating, kayaking, canoeing, rafting and swimming. The coast is best reached along the coast by boat, with easy access to the Great Lakes and Lake Huron and the Michigan River.

Residents and visitors enjoy a wide variety of activities, from fishing to kayaking, canoeing, rafting and swimming, fishing and boating, as well as hiking, biking and camping.

Although the latter has no lifeguard, both Whitehall and Montague have their own lifeguards, and both maintain small beaches to please both residents and visitors. To encourage visitors to the lake to find out about the city's offerings, Whitehall Municipal Marina has invested in bicycles for boat people to circumnavigate the cities. A copy of the boat regulations is always a good idea, especially in these areas, as the lakes are patrolled regularly to ensure safety.

The twin towns at the northern end of the lake offer a variety of attractions, such as the Whitehall Museum of Art and the Montague Art Museum. Free tickets are also offered for plays and music by local bands, as well as for local artists and musicians. The area is also a good place for antique shops, with several shops in the city center and there are also a number of antique shops and restaurants.

Located on the outskirts of the city, it is the first linear state park in Michigan and offers 22 miles of bike paths. It is offered by the Whitehall - Montague Bike and Pedestrian Trail System, a multi-lane trail system. The trails are open for snowmobiling in winter within the city limits, and the area offers several other hiking and cycling trails.

The White River wetlands also host a large number of mute tundra swans, and the lake into which it flows offers some of the best bird watching in Michigan.

The local yachting club White Lake organises a sailing regatta every Saturday and Sunday in summer. This is a traditional lake festival held every summer in Goodrich Park, and in August there is a chamber music festival offering a week of music and lectures.

Canoeing and rafting on the White River is a great way to enjoy a canoe trip or a boat trip from the city. No visit would be complete without spending a few hours in White Lake Park, one of the area's most popular tourist attractions.

Originally built in 1871, the original lamps were powered by lard and oil and sawn off and switched on by a lamp. The lighting station was built after the federal government provided funds to dredge a more direct channel to Lake Michigan and bypass the old circular White River, and the lights were officially taken out of service in the 1960s.

Long a popular Muskegon County vacation area, White Lake is home to a number of attractions, including White Lake State Park and Great Lakes National Park. At the southern end of the lake there is a beach, at the northern end a small beach, in the middle a picnic area and a beach beach.

There are several traditional hotels and motels in the area and even a few resorts along the canal. There are some real estate options in this area and I have seen White Lake become a beautiful area. Although not directly on the lake, there is a convenient place to park your camper and walk a few steps to the beach.

The water quality is getting better and better, so bring a boat and sail, or come by boat if you want to fish.

Someone is REALLY confused

You are confusing WHITES Lake in Kalamazoo County, with WHITE Lake in Muskegon County. It was WHITE Lake that was horribly polluted by Hooker Chemical Co when they moved in across Old Channel Trail from the lake in 1952. My family lived across the road on the property that had previously been the Cherokee Lodge. It is WHITE Lake that has a short channel (and a lighthouse) into Lake Michigan. As for WHITES Lake.....it has no public access, being that about half the shoreline is owned by the Kalamazoo Country Club and the rest is private homes. And that would be one very LONG channel to get from WHITES Lake to Lake Michigan......
