About Branched Oak Lake

Oak Lake is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nebraska, with its outposts located northwest of Lincoln, Nebraska's capital. Leisure activities include kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities, as well as fishing and camping.

In 1967, the Army Corps of Engineers completed construction of the Branched Oak Lake, which was approved by the Flood Control Act of 1958. There are two other lakes in the area, which the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission (NGPC) designates as Salt Valley Lakes.

The project included a total of 4,289 acres covered in water, and the Corps of Engineers leased the land to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for Branched Oak Lake and Salt Valley Lakes to use as public land.

Branched Oak Lake and Salt Valley Lake, the two largest lakes in Nebraska, offer a variety of recreational activities including fishing, boating, hiking and camping. Camping is allowed in nine public areas around the lakes, on the shores of the lake and in a small area near the mouth of the Branced Oak.

The South Shore Campground also offers a boat ramp for picnickers and boaters who do not require a boat ramp but require a state permit to enter. Branched Oak Lake and Salt Valley Lake State Parks offer a variety of hard-fortified camping sites for camping, fishing, boating, hiking and other activities. Facilities include camping areas, picnic areas, boat ramps and a picnic area, as well as access to the lake shore.

Visitors must swim at their own risk and be supervised by a lifeguard during the summer months. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, hiking and other lakeside activities.

This branched oak lake offers an excellent trail system, including a 2.2 km trail from the lake to the shore and a 2 km trail.

Fishing and hunting are equally popular at Branched Oak Lake, and a footbridge has been built to provide excellent fishing for cappie and wiper. Fishermen can be found on the shore of the lake and in the creek and creek bed. The Eichensee even has its own dog park, which branches off from the main lake, where the championship dog test is held.

Lake animals include quails, pheasants, squirrels, rabbits and deer, but hunters and trappers are not allowed within 100 yards of public land. Plan a trip to Branched Oak Lake soon, where you can indulge in your favorite activities. BranchOak Lake offers great fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, fishing and hiking trails, as well as a variety of outdoor activities for children and adults.
