About Indian Lake

Indian Lake is one of the largest lakes in the United States and the second largest lake in Ohio. Named after the various Indian tribes that inhabited the area, the lake is fed by the Great Miami River and several tributaries. In the mid-19th century, Indian Lake was a feeder lake for the Miami and Erie canals.

Bring your own boat or rent one from one of the local marinas or dock at Indian Lake Marina, a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. You will feel the breeze in your hair as you explore the 30-mile shoreline of the lake and you will be enchanted by the beauty of its beautiful landscape and its vibrant colors. The beautiful view of Lake Erie, the beautiful waterfalls and the breathtaking landscape will make you fall in love.

Fishermen will be the focus of the fishing tournaments that dominate the spring and summer calendars. Googling on lighted buoys, stargazing, fishing, kayaking, boating, canoeing, swimming and more at Indian Lake.

The water seems to be teeming with fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects and even some birds of prey. However, make sure you have a fishing license in Ohio, without which fishing is illegal.

If you like a little bit of land activity, explore the well-lit stalactites of Ohio Caverns, the largest cave system in Ohio, which features beautiful crystal white rock formations. There are many other activities you can imagine in Indian Lake, from diving into the water, visiting one of the many Indian islands, pumping adrenaline with water skiing or rubber dinghies, or simply swimming on the back of a passing cloud. Two public beaches offer a variety of water fun to get away from the water, such as building sandcastles, walking on your toes in the sand and picnicking on picnic benches.

If you fancy riding, you can ride at Marmon Valley Farms or curl up after a long day of fun, excitement and books. And finally, don't forget to finish the night with a view of the sunset and the sparkling water in the lake. A visit to Indian Lake is a must, especially if you visit the old houses, known for their architecture, antiques and Indian artifacts.
