About Maidy Lake

Crescent Lake, named after its shape, is located in the Columbia River Basin in Oregon, USA, north of Portland, Oregon.

Crescent Lake is located in the Deschutes National Forest and offers visitors sparkling blue water and stunning views of the Columbia River Basin. There is also a boat ramp that provides access to Crescent Lake and other nearby lakes, as well as a number of hiking trails. The densely wooded area offers a variety of scenic views, including the Cascade Mountains, Willamette River and Lake Oswego.

The fish species found in the lake are a mixture of freshwater and freshwater species, as well as a variety of trout and perch species. The lake trout caught in this lake are consistently between 1 - 2 kg and up to 30 pounds. In 1993, a 30-pound lake trout was pulled from Crescent Lake, the largest catch of its kind in Oregon history.

In the summer months, Crescent Lake is used for irrigation, and the water level can drop as low as 15 feet, but this is hardly noticeable. In 1956, a small wooden dam built on Crescent Lake in 1922 was replaced by a 40-foot concrete dam built by the Reclamation Office.

Besides the campsite, visitors can choose from many private apartments and properties in this area. Crescent Lake also houses a variety of campsites, which are equipped with tents and trailers that can be pitched, as well as picnic areas, picnic tables and other amenities.

More than seven million people visit the Deschutes National Forest each year, and the Newberry National Volcanic Monument covers more than 1.5 million acres in Oregon and Washington.
