About Big Boulder Lake

In winter, visitors to Big Boulder Lake can look out over the frozen water to the ski slopes behind them. In spring and summer, the shore is decorated with mountain gloryberries and the clean mountain water is teeming with fish.

No matter what the season, Big Boulder Lake offers a wealth of leisure activities and, combined with its natural beauty and scenic views, will surely delight the whole family.

Big Boulder Lake is an artificial reservoir in Carbon County created by Big Boulder Dam in 1957. The dam was built by the Bigoulder Corporation through a dam on Grass Lake Creek and is the largest dam in the United States and the second largest in Pennsylvania.

The resulting lake was created in 1957 by the construction of the Big Boulder Dam at Grass Lake Creek. The ski slopes on the lake were the first to produce artificial snow, and there are several ski slopes in the area today. The Pocono Mountains will never be as popular as the ski resorts in New York City and the Alps, but the slopes are challenging and very accessible.

Big Boulder Lake is a private lake in a quiet community, and access to the lake is on a small road from the town of Big Boulder, about a half hour drive north of the town of Pocono.

Visitors can take tennis, swimming and sailing lessons, swim in the lake and paddle board along the shore. Facilities include a golf course and golf courses, a swimming pool, an ice cream parlour, tennis courts and a volleyball court.

There is a large lake for sailing, canoeing and kayaking, but only electric motors are allowed. Gas powered boats are allowed on the lake, and only a small number of electric boats can be used.

The fishing opportunities at Big Boulder Lake are excellent and the lake is home to some of the best trout in the state of Pennsylvania as well as a large number of other species.

The lake is in the village of Lake Harmony and NASCAR's Pocono Raceway is just a few miles away. The area between the two lakes offers restaurants, outlets, shopping and golf, and all these amenities are within driving distance. It is also private and offers great views of the state of Pennsylvania as well as Pennsylvania State Park. Vacation rentals are available on Big Boulder Lake, and the area around the lake offers a variety of amenities, from restaurants to outlet shopping and golf.

Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are nearby in the winter months, as well as snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the summer months.

Big Boulder Lake is located in Hickory Run State Park, which is located in the eastern part of Pennsylvania, north of Philadelphia. The park covers an area of about 1,500 hectares and with over 40 miles of hiking trails there are many places to hike and explore.
Wildlife includes deer, falcons, turkeys and foxes, as well as birds of prey such as owls, coyotes, wild boars, raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, birds and other birds.

The park consists mainly of glacial moraines, and its rocky soil is known as glacier cultivation. Big Boulder Lake is a fantastic recreational destination and the fields are surrounded by national natural monuments. Literally boulders that visually remind of the glacier past of this region.

Add to that the quiet seclusion of the private community And it is easy to see why so many people come and stay.
