About Pymatuning Lake

Pymatuning Lake, located in northwestern Pennsylvania and flowing into northeastern Ohio, is a lake of superlatives. It is also a protected area and is home to the largest freshwater lake in the United States and the second largest in North America. Pym atuning is an artificial reservoir, like many North American lakes, but it is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania. The facility, completed in 1934, was about 15 feet deeper than average and had a maximum depth of 35 feet.

Pymatuning State Park, where the lake is located, attracts more visitors a year than almost any other park in the state. Three lakeside campgrounds are located in most of Pennsylvania and three more in northeastern Ohio.

The Pymatuning Lake offers four seasons, and from the warm summer months there are many water sports. Pym atuning Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Pennsylvania, with its natural beauty, scenic views and beautiful water. All these superlatives add up to one thing: a lot of fun for families.

Boating is one of the most popular, although visitors should be aware that motor boats have a maximum power limit of 20 hp. There are rental boats, fishing equipment and moorings for boats and there are a number of different types of boats that can be used on the lake. The sparkling waters of Lake Pym and its picturesque views attract thousands of bathers every year. Spend an hour on a raft in calm waters, fill an afternoon with a power swim or a lazy swim.

Leave the water to stand and relax on the beach, catch some rays of sunshine in the sand, watch children build sandcastles and watch the sunsets over the lake as they build sandcastles.

Fishing is a popular activity on Pymatune, but don't let the season stop you, summer fishing and winter ice fishing are permitted and enjoyed on all lakes in Pennsylvania. Bring a fishing rod or rent one, the lake is well filled and you can catch one or two fish and many other fish species in the water. We have a full-time fishing license for all lakes and rivers in Pennsylvania and we are not deterred from the season.

Pymatune is home to the Spillway Concession in Linesville, where ducks walk on the backs of fish. Every year, over 300,000 visitors come to this lake to feed the carp and ducks with thousands of loaves of bread. You will be able to catch as many bites as possible, as the ducks can cross the lake in competition for bread with the fish.

I am really a must - see - do - for those who need to see it for themselves, and I am sure you will do it.

Those who decide to visit the area during the cold winter months will be greeted with a variety of snow-covered activities such as skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Cross-country skiing is a popular activity on Lake Pymatune, as it is covered in powder snow and prepared for skiers. There is also fun for the whole family, whether you just make snow angels or snowmen. Another exciting option is to tackle the disused railway line and the ski and bike paths.

No matter what you do there, you will enjoy your stay at Pymatuning Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
