About Strawberry Reservoir

Strawberry Lake, locally known as Berry, is Utah's most popular fishing spot, but in reality Strawberry Reservoir is part of the Central Utah Project (CUP), which provides water to Parched Pines State Park and the Strawberry Valley Project. The 17,000-acre reservoir was created in 1922 as a strawberry-in-the-valley project and is part of the Mountainland Tourism Region of Utah. It is located in Strawberry County, Utah, north of Salt Lake City, about 30 miles south of Cedar City and 20 miles east of Provo.

Surrounded by the Wasatch Mountains, the Strawberry Reservoir offers a wide range of leisure activities. The original 8400 hectare reservoir was created by the construction of a strawberry dam on the Strawberry River. Strawberry tanks have since been expanded to maintain water supplies for Parched Pines State Park and the Strawberry Valley Project, as well as Strawberry Lake.

This area is located at the northern end of the lake and includes the original 8400 hectare strawberry reservoir. There are four major fishing areas, the most popular are the strawberry basins, but fishing is its attraction.

The Meadows Basin and Indian Creek Bay are located at the southern end of this large body of water. The Narrows is the area between the Strawberry River and Indian Creek, which flows into the Soldier Creek Basin. This basin is located in the original Soldier Creek Reservoir and is one of the most popular fishing areas in the Strawberry Reservoir.

Berry Restaurant was filled with sterilized rainbow trout and Kokanee salmon back then, and the strawberry tank wasn't always as clean and good - it was a fishing operation as it is today. From 1961 to 1990 it was chemically treated to remove all competing fish species such as trout, salmon and other fish. The fisheries administration was a big success, with the Utah Department of Wildlife and Fishermen fishing 1.4 million hours and catching and distributing more than 1 million pounds of salmon.

If you are new to the strawberry industry, you can visit the Forest Service Visitor Center in the Strawberry Reserve to learn about the history of the strawberry plant and its history as a fishing business.

Here you will find a number of published guidebooks to the strawberry reserve as well as information about the strawberry plant. Access to the Strawberry Reservoir is by boat via four public ramps: Renegade Point is located at the southwest end of the Meadows Basin, Soldier Creek Marina in Aspen Grove, on the west bank of Strawberry Bay and Strawberry Bay Marina, which is located on the west bank of Strawberry Bay.

Facilities at these locations include sanitary facilities, group pavilions and shops. There is a paved start at Strawberry Reservoir Campground on the west bank of Strawberry Bay. This leads to the associated Forest Service campground and is paved.
If you need a sit-down dinner or a place to rest, Strawberry Bay has restaurants and lodges. Additional day and use areas along the coast are Strawberry Beach Lodge and St. John's Bay Lodge on the east shore of the bay. Part of this berry houses a number of restaurants, shops and other amenities, as well as a campsite and a picnic area on the beach.

For those who are a little less adventurous, there are seven wilderness areas that you can explore in solitude with a backpack or drive through the forest.

The opportunities for fun and relaxation do not end at the Erdbeerstausee, but before you set off, remember that the weather in this high mountain region can be unpredictable. While summer temperatures can reach 80 degrees, night temperatures are below freezing.

The attractions here are as varied as the landscape itself, and the whole family can enjoy a dinner outing at the Hebertalbahn. Enjoy a scenic drive north through the Hebertal valley and you will find an inviting community. Museums, day baths and a local theatre provide entertainment throughout the day and into the evening.
