About Lake Bomoseen

Lake Bomo is the largest lake in the state of Vermont and part of Lake Champlain National Wildlife Refuge (WNWR), located in the west - in the central parts of this state. It is about 2 km long and covers an area of 2,370 hectares, and it is one of only two lakes in Vermont with an area of more than 1,000 hectares. The lake was formed by glaciers many thousands of years ago and has behaved at a maximum depth of 65 feet.

Lake Bomosee is partially surrounded by Lake Champlain National Wildlife Refuge (WWNWR), a national park covering a total area of 2,370 hectares. The national parks around the lake are located in the north, south, east, west and south - west of the park and in the north - east and east - north and west.

In its heyday, the quarry supplied slate to the West Castleton Railroad Slate Company, which is conveniently located between Lake Bomosee and Glen Lake. The site is characterized by a number of historic buildings, a museum, a public park and a state park.

BomOSEen State Park is a great place to experience the visual history of the area. Opened in 1960, State Park now boasts a variety of hiking trails, picnic areas, hiking and biking trails and other amenities.

Lake Bomo offers many activities for your enjoyment: swimming, playing golf, swimming in the lake, kayaking, pedal-boarding or even spending an afternoon at one of the many picnic areas, such as the golf course, picnic area, swimming pool and other facilities.

If fishing is your pleasure, Lake Bomo will not disappoint you: anglers can catch a wide variety of fish, from small to large, from large to small, to large.

Legend has it that three Irish shale workers crossed the lake while rowing, never to return, and the bodies were never found. After a full day on the lake, you can hide from the ghosts of boaters on this lake and find a safe place.

The three men are said to have tried to get to the other side but forgot. The inhabitants of this lake have seen unknown, rudderless rowing boats silently crossing the lake, some as far as a mile away.
