About Lake Wenatchee

Lake Wenatchee is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the US state of Washington and is fed by the surrounding mountains. It is the second largest lake in Washington and the third largest in North America after Yellowstone.

Wenatchee comes from Wenatchi, which means "river coming out of a canyon," and Wenat, which means "river flowing through a canyon." Indian tribes camped by the lake to hunt coastal tribes, and the tribes hunted, picked berries, and hunted while they rested and prepared for the rest of their journey.

The story goes that an American hunter, visiting a camp on Lake Wenatchee, boasted that his men had killed two white men. It is believed that this event was the trigger for the Yakima Indian War.

The northern shore of Lake Wenatchee is the most popular residential area because it faces south and gets more sun on short winter days. The southern and southwestern shores of Lake Wenatchese are managed by the United States Forest Service. The CVJM warehouse is located on the north side of the lake, and at the eastern end there are some residential developments as well as some commercial and industrial areas.

The Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce explains: "The lake is perceived as an ideal location for business relocation, as its inhabitants enjoy lower fuel consumption and the lake is a beautiful place with many leisure activities throughout the year.

Spring and summer offer a beautiful setting full of vibrant colours, and views change from pristine white to changing views during the summer months. Lake Wenatchee is located on the eastern bank of the Columbia River in Washington State, USA, north of Seattle.

Lake Wenatchee State Park has more than 12,000 feet of water and is divided into northern and southern sections by the Wenatchede River. North Park is a less developed wooded area for those looking for more primitive accommodation, and South Park offers a roped swimming area, picnic areas, picnic area and other amenities.

South Park offers heated toilets and hot showers, and during the snowy months you can enjoy the beautiful lake views from the top of Lake Wenatchee State Park. In summer, visitors can camp in the North or South Park to experience a more primitive camping experience in the forest.

The Glacier View Campground is located on the south shore of Lake Wenatchee and is operated by the National Forest Service. Facilities for campsites, campers and parks include a public jetty where the public can dock a boat on the lake. The Glacier View campsite also offers a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing and picnicking. The whole lake and the whole lake Wenchee State Park is a natural wildlife area, so visitors should always be aware of the presence of wildlife in the park and the safety of their vehicles and equipment.

From April to October, Lake Wenatchee is becoming more popular with windsurfers, but since it is not dammed and the snow drain from the mountains takes place between April and June, water lovers should be warned that the water can rise high and create strong currents.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) manages the salmon fishery with socks and eyes. Spawning socks float up the fish ladder from the Columbia River to Wenatchee Lake, and fishermen eagerly await the sock's eyes to move upstream. If the number of sock eyes exceeds 25,000 - 28,000, which are needed for fishing, the wdfW opens the lake for fishing. The Wenatchese Lake is a paradise in itself, but it is not without problems, especially in the winter months of January and February.

Visit Wenatchee Lake National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most beautiful lakes in the state of Washington, USA, for a day of fishing, hiking and fishing.
